Pillow fight league

Part sport, part freak-show, the Pillow Fight League is exactly what it implies: Fighting with pillows until you lose. The girls-only league travels from city to city with their band of costumed athletes, sporting names like Betty Clocker and Scrapula, and duking it out with pillows for a trophy.

Teen bull rider

What started as a dare has become a passion to Nic Lica. A co-worker challenged him to ride a bull at age 13, and within two years he became the Michigan high-school rodeo champion. Now 16, Nic travels from fair to fair, riding bulls for often little money.

Young pilgrims

Over 350 Muslim students donned long white robes, recited prayers, and circled a replica of the Kaaba, the holy shrine in Mecca, during a re-enactment of the Hajj pilgrimage at a mosque in Dearborn, Michigan. The re-enactment mirrored the actual event which is required of all Muslims in their lifetimes.
