Razing Sealed Power
The historic Sealed Power Corp. builldings in Muskegon Heights continue to pull the emotional strings of former employees, who often visit to watch as the site is razed. They say the corner of Sanford Street and Keating Avenue will never be the same.
Franklin Contractors of Muskegon is tearing down the complex and recycling nearly every piece of scrap of the 13 buildings on the 5-acre site.
Upheaval
The last day of school came early for students at Muskegon Heights’ Martin Luther King Elementary School. And while many students celebrated with party games and treats on November 7, several students, staff and parents hugged and wept.
Last month, Superintendent Dana Bryant announced to the school board his recommendation to close most of the elementary. The bulk of the student body, about 100 children, will be transfered to other schools.
