Comments:

First — This was the strongest category and first place was unanimous. The photo captured the peak action and anticipation of this play! The emotion of the moment is all over their faces. The play in the paper is an injustice.

Second — Strong moment. All the hands and faces add for nice framing to the moment. A crop might be helpful to clean up the top and bring you into the fans.

Third — Peak action again. We loved the subtle details that really added to the frame. The action of the ponytails, the clean background and balance of the frame all contributed.

HM1 — Really solid action. The pulling of the jersey, the players body language and the intense faces make this picture.

HM2 — Another nice football photo. The linebacker caught on his toes is classic.

HM3 — Probably the best moment of the group. The technical qualities of the photo really brought it down. This would have placed higher had the photographer picked a cleaner background and shallower depth of field.

HM4 — Nice intense moment. One judge really liked the lines leading down to the ball.
