Comments:

First — The first place and second place images were very close and there was some "agreeing to disagree" going on between the panel. The judges felt that this picture was clean, simple and a solid portrait. It felt very natural and not forced.

Second — Strong light and nice idea with the layering. Some judges felt the subject got lost in the props and that it felt a bit forced.

Third — Great concept and use of textures. A few subtle tweaks and atention to details would have really elevated this image.

HM1 — Nice use of color, environment and clothes. Judges thought that a little more complex lighting and composition would have helped the concept really stand out.

HM2 — This image had some nice elements in it. We thought that the subject matter really had a feeling of disconnect from the frame. The photographer could have worked on bringing out a mood or feeling with the center subject a little more either through her personality or lighting.
